The summer has slipped away and we are now back in our classrooms, writing lessons, reviewing new standards. We hope your year is off to a great start!
Trish had a wonderful opportunity to attend TICA (Teacher Institute Contemporary Art) at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago. Days of intense studio and the opportunity to meet with contemporary artists exhibiting today and working along with the most amazing Art teachers from around the country!

A, Kevin and Trish enjoyed more creative endeavors with some of the wonderful teachers from across our State! The annual retreat at St. Mary’s of the Woods College was again rewarding and productive. Lessons and techniques, so generously shared, ignite the passion we hope to communicate in the classroom. At the AEAI summer retreat at St. Mary's of the Woods College, we had 4 days with our col
leagues where Deena Church shared jewelry making techniques, Professor Bonnie Zimmer facilitated a collaborative mandala and basketry techniques celebrating our cultural pasts with an admiration for the skills of our ancestors. We also had the opportunity to practice our skills in figure drawing, painting, and ceramics; endeavors that we find difficult to schedule in during our busy school year.Bonnie Zimmer demonstrating basket weaving technique.
Please plan to attend the annual AEAI State Convention. Working with like-minded individuals is so rewarding. We hope you take advantage of all that our colleagues have to offer at the State Convention the first weekend in November, Friday, November 4 through Sunday, November 6. We will be offering an art workshop in Asian Folded Poetry Books.
